David Orlowsky

David Orlowsky, born in 1981, began his musical training at the age of ten as a percussionist changing to the clarinet three years later. In addition to his classical studies he has always been involved with popular and world music and at the age of sixteen he founded the “David Orlowsky Trio” with Jens-Uwe Popp on guitar and Florian Dohrmann on double bass.

The Trio represents a highly cultivated and progressive style of music, which they title “chamber world music”.

David Orlowsky has been described as one of the most extraordinary clarinettists of his generation and in addition to his work with the Trio he is an avid classical and contemporary chamber music player. His musical partners include Sergio Azzolini, Daniel Hope, Andreas Haefliger and the Vogler Quartet. He has appeared at a number of major festivals including the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival and Gidon Kremer’s legendary Lockenhaus Festival. David studied Classical clarinet with Manfred Lindner at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and with Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

David Orlowsky records exclusively for Sony Classical.
