‘Impressions’

Photographic Still-Life Exhibition

1st – 31st May

Venue: Primary Care Unit, Markievicz House, Sligo

The exhibition is a display of still-life photographs created by the service users of Gallagher House, Tubbercurry.

Art Exhibition

Opening Wednesday 6th May, 5.30pm

Venue: Hawks Well Theatre, Temple Street, Sligo

‘Still-life’ is an exhibition of art works created by the Rosses Point Art Group. The work on display is inspired by the Yeats sisters Susan and Elizabeth and their love for the imagery of flowers and plants.

Thursday 7th May 6pm – 8pm

Venue: Rathcormac Hall, Drumcliffe, Sligo

The Cos Cos Sean Nós Festival links with Bealtaine Sligo to host an evening session, a blend of stories and music with special guest performance by writer Brian Leyden.

Venue: History cottage Rathcormac, Drumcliffe, Sligo

Spoken word and stories session with writer Maura Gilligan.

All are welcome to share a story and add to the conversation.

Intergenerational Arts Project

Window Textile Exhibition

Tuesday 12th May, 2pm - 3pm

Venue: Ballymote Library, Teeling Street, Ballymote

The participants of the Ballymote Intergenerational Arts Project, Coláiste Muire Secondary School Ballymote and Ballymote Nursing Unit invite you to the opening of their window exhibition of textile art. All welcome

Easkey Intergenerational Arts Project

An Intergenerational arts afternoon celebrating the closing of a two year long arts project between Easkey Health Centre and Easkey Secondary School, Coláiste Iascaigh.

 

‘Beezie’

A One Woman Play by Sheila Flitton

Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st May

Venue: Two venues Avalon Community Centre & Yeats Society Building

In Sheila Flitton’s renowned solo play, Beezie returns telling of her youth, her friendship with the young W.B. Yeats and her brief marriage in middle life. The play will be performed in two venues:

‘Made by Hand’

Friday 22nd May, 2.30pm - 3.30 pm

Venue: St John’s Community Hospital, Sligo

‘Made by Hand ‘is the title of a textile wall hanging, it was created by the St John’s residents. Inspired by the Sligo landscape and colours. The piece will be hung in the entrance to the hospital and unveiled on the afternoon of Friday 22nd. All are welcome

 

"Old Flames"

Lunch time performance at 2pm

Venue: Nazareth Care Village, Sligo.

A Bealtaine Festival Sligo, commission by writer Brian Leyden entitled ‘Old Flames’.‘Old Flames’ is a blend of stories and music, a fond look at romance and courtship, house-dances, dowries and matchmaking as recollected by an earlier generation. ‘Old Flames’ will light up a few fond memories and maybe even rekindle a romantic fire or two….

 

Bealtaine Sligo 2015 Festure by Brian Leyden. Bealtaine Festival Sligo is delighted to introduce ‘Old Flames’ which will feature new work from writer Brian Leyden, commissioned for 2015 by Sligo Arts Services and the Hawks Well Theatre, with funding from Sligo County Council, HSE West and the Arts Council of Ireland.
