Open Call - Artists Studios at The Model 2022

Applications are now being accepted for rental of purpose bult Artists’ Studios, at The Model in Sligo. In a unique offering, a number of rent bursaries are available to support and enable Sligo-based artists to develop their studio practice during this time.

Located in Sligo, The Model is a distinctive multi-disciplinary arts organisation that is led by the contemporary visual arts. The Model takes an integrated approach to programming, with a strong focus on contemporary culture and urgent global issues.

Studio rentals are available for 1 or 2-year licence agreements commencing in early April 2022.

Fees for the studios are €225 per month which includes utilities and broadband. Studios are unfurnished, have 24-hour access and measure approx 7 x 4 metres. Applicants should note that the studios are not residential and parking is not included. Paid parking is available at a daily rate in nearby Sligo County Council Car Parks.

A number of Rent Bursaries to support artists with the rental fee for periods of 3-6 months are available for unwaged artists for 2022 only. If you would like to be considered for a rent bursary, please include short text making the case for this support.

 

Application Criteria

Applications should be in PDF* format and must include:

• Cover Letter - Describing your professional artistic practice and demonstrating how your work would benefit from having a Studio. Two pages max.
• CV - Two pages max
• Artist’s Statement
• Images of your work
• If you would like to be considered for a rent bursary, please include a short text explaining why you would like to be considered for this support

Candidates will be notified of the outcome by Friday 4 March 2022.

 

* To create a PDF – compile a Word or Powerpoint document with one image per page (maximum 12 pages) Add image details on the same page beneath the image. Please bear in mind that this document can be created in landscape, or portrait, format depending on what best suits your images.  When all information and images are compiled, title as

'Artist name, Studio application' – and save as a pdf.
