About the Partnership:

Music Generation Sligo is part of a national music education programme for children and young people, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, The Department of Education and Skills and Sligo Music Education Partnership. Music Generation Sligo is managed and funded locally by Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB, Sligo County Council, Sligo Education Centre, Sligo County Childcare Committee, Cranmore Regeneration and the local music sector. Since 2011, Music Generation Sligo has developed a model to address access to instrumental and vocal tuition and performance by children and young people in their own communities.

Na Píobairí Uilleann (NPU), the Society of Uilleann Pipers, was founded in 1968 by pipers with the aim of protecting a threatened art form. Now, forty-six years later, NPU is a thriving arts organisation with thousands of members, dedicated to tuition, performance and pipemaking.

Craobh Fred Finn is a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, located on the grounds of St Mary’s GAA Club and the classrooms of Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré, in Ballydoogan, Sligo. The branch provides tuition as well as ancillary events, such as Grúpa Ceoil, concerts and competitions. The primary ethos of the branch is to encourage the participation of
musicians in traditional Irish music to every level, whether that be solely for enjoyment or with a view to involvement in competition at local, national or international level.
