Informal Music Afternoon Sunday March 30th

Saxophone-piano duo are New Rising Stars

Pianist Aileen Cahill has an association with SBO over a number of years, in chamber concerts and performing Mozart piano concertos. More recently she appeared in an Informal Music Afternoon with Hilda O'Mahony to a very enthusiastic reception. With young, multi-award-winning saxophonist, Gavin Brennan she has been working with Con Tempo under the Rising Stars/Music for Galway umbrella, where they had masterclasses and concerts with them.

At the IMA on Sunday March 30th Aileen and Gavin will be playing works/arrangements from different periods including a bit of Baroque and a great piece by Desnclos. Aileen will also perform a Haydn piano soanta and accompany Korean soprano, Eunjoo Goh.

Another new performer to the IMAs who will be part of Sunday's programme is Russian harp player Ramon (Ramuna Sakaluskaite) who will play music by Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Handel and Gershwin as well as a Russian folk song. Ramona started learning harp at the age of three, was a student of the legendary Tatiana Tauer at the St Petersburg Conservatory and played in the Mussorgsky-Michaelovsky Ballet/Opera in Saint Petersburg for fifteen years.

At Sligo's Informal Music Afternoon you can sit at tables in the gorgeous light of the Model's Atrium, sipping tea, coffee or a glass of wine,  nibbling on a creation of their wonderful café while you cross musical boundaries listening to enormously talented new performers, being introduced to new composers, new music. It's great. And great for children too (it is not only adults who like to explore) and children go free.
