'In Isolation' is an exhibition of three emerging artists Paul Cabena, Gavin Porter and Mathew Tucker, curated by Marta Slawinska.
The artists recently graduated from the Institute of Technology Sligo with BA (Hons) in Fine Art and Marta pursued MA by Research in Visual Culture, also at IT Sligo.
The artworks selected for this exhibition come from three separate series examining aspects of space, identity, the self and consumption from the individual perspective of each artist and with different focuses.
By near to obsessive, repetitive exploration of visuals related to their personal points of interest, the artists seek to depict the unquestionable rhythm and repetitiveness present in our everyday mundane realities. What strikes in all the works is a feeling of isolation. The depicted practices and scenes are so common in our culture, that they paradoxically remain ignored and separated from our everyday concerns. This exhibition brings attention to the structure and patterns of our being and recurrence of spaces and actions that constitute our daily lives.
