Sligo County Council’s Arts Service Department underpins the cultural vision for the county—positioning the arts as a defining force in Sligo’s identity, vitality and future. Working in strategic partnership with the Arts Council, Sligo County Council advances a shared national agenda for access, participation and artistic excellence, while leading locally with clarity and intent.

Sligo County Council places creativity at the heart of its wider ambitions, recognising its power to shape place, strengthen communities and drive sustainable economic development. This is a county where artists are supported to take risks, where new work is made and experienced, and where we strive to ensure that cultural participation is part of everyday life, regardless of status.

Sligo County Council is committed to a confident, outward-looking cultural county: one that values its distinct voice, supports its artists to lead nationally and internationally, and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to engage with the arts.
