Put Friday 8th April in your diary. To celebrate Ireland’s second national music day, love:live music, Sligo County Council Arts Service and Sligo Music sector are delighted to announce Sligo loves:live music. Over 20 events will take place throughout lunchtime, early evening and night time on 8th April all over Sligo. With events taking place everywhere from The Model, to Sligo bus station, to the Coleman Centre in Gurteen, to the Pensions Service Office, to restaurants, shopping centres and pubs, everyone is encouraged to get involved to celebrate live music performances of all kinds!

There is an eclectic mix of free live music events planned; Enjoy lunch to the harmonious sounds of a Barbershop Chorus, the explosive sounds of Túcan or uplifting jazz or classical music. Give your afternoon a boost with energetic performances by school bands in Johnston Court and Quayside. And be spoilt for choice as the evening turns to night with Sligo Concert Band, Hugh Tinney, Paddy Cole and Sligo’s finest musicians in their various eclectic groups of Jazz, Soul, Trad, Blues and Roots. And with free tickets on offer for a Ceili and Trad Disco in The Velvet Rooms with the Dartry Ceili Band, there really is something for everyone.

At national level, Music Network presents love:live music - Ireland's second National Music Day, in association with RTÉ Lyric FM, and supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture & Sport and the Arts Council. Sligo’s events are hosted by the Sligo Music Sector and the Arts Service of Sligo County Council with special thanks to all venues and acts taking part.
