Tubbercurry has a long established literary tradition and this has been reinforced by the establishmnet of the Leyney Writers. This group decided to organise the first literary festival in 2006 and this will be the fourth such event. The culmination of the evening will be the announcement of the winners of the three competitions being organised which are

1. a short story competition
2. a free verse poetry competition and
3. a rhyming poetry competition.

Furthermore to celebrate the towns literary tradition; members of Leyney Writers will be reading from their work during the course of the evening. Details of the rules and entry criteria for these competitons can be had from
