Stephen Brennan grew up in Sligo in the North West of Ireland where he developed a love for the outdoors and the wildness of the Irish countryside. Thus he draws inspiration from the natural environment and create images using the techniques of realism and naturalism by which to convey its beauty.
Having a desire to produce paintings that reflect nature in its true form and for this reason he choose’s to paint from life. Striving to create a sense of movement and a naturalistic depiction of light and shade with realistic texture. Painting from life enables realistic representation of objects in their natural environment and affords the opportunity to engage with the subject creating an immediate connection that transmits through the work.
