Graham Reid and Ruth Le Gear

Graham Reid and Ruth Le Gear

Graham Reid grew up in South Africa, studied architecture at Massachusetts College of Art and completed his undergrad in sculptural glass. After returning to his ancestral roots in Ireland, he designed and built Knockbeg Glass Studios where he taught and blew glass under the name Glóine Eíreann. He now teaches glassblowing at Leitrim Sculpture Centre and has a flameworking and metal studio in Castleore, Sligo. His glass sculptural work is primarily concerned with expressing and manifesting the universal forces that surround us but are often invisible. He also studied Music and Media Technologies at Trinity. His work has been exhibited in various locations from the Douglas Hyde Gallery to the Cairde Festival in Sligo.

Ruth Le Gear’s work seeks to make visible the ephemeral and intangible fragments of life. It follows trails; it maps. She produces imagery in moving and still image, sound and installation, illustrating her investigation of phenomena such as water memory. Exploring unquantifiable substances and theories, she in turn uses experimental methodologies and intuitive processes, including those of homeopathy. Her work consists of documentation of her interventions in the landscape. She engages with the land and the landscape, creating a relationship with the essence of the place.

Le Gear (b.1985, Limerick) graduated from GMIT (IE) with a honors degree in Sculpture in 2007.
